Government confirms Alternative Fuel Payment Dates For Domestic Customers

20/12/2022

The Government has announced this morning that the Alternative Fuel Payment of £200 will be made in January for customers in Northern Ireland and February in Great Britain. These payments will be made via electricity suppliers alongside the Electricity Bills Support Scheme Payments.
For those customers without an electricity account and other exceptions, they will be able to apply through a governmental portal in February.
We welcome the extra clarity ahead of Christmas and our advice to customers remains the same which is to purchase their heating oil as usual ahead of cold weather. The best and most economical approach is to talk to local distributors on a regular basis and not leave purchases to the last minute.
